[0:00] Philippians chapter 2 verses 5 through 11.

[0:22] ! ...with God a thing to be grasped, but He emptied Himself by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men, and being found in human form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

[1:07] May God add a blessing to the reading of His Word. Would you please be seated? When I was enrolling in seminary, the class that I most dreaded and feared and put off to the very last moment where I could not put it off any longer was preaching class.

[1:27] Our teacher, our professor there, Dr. Aubrey, was a fair but tough teacher, instructor.

[1:38] And he had come to Midwestern from the Master's Seminary, which is John MacArthur's seminary. And not only that, did he teach preaching in John MacArthur's seminary, but he also on occasion would preach in Dr. MacArthur's place.

[1:53] So it was very intimidating to walk into that classroom, one, because you have your peers, but you also have somebody who definitely knows what he's talking about. And was not afraid to give you a brutal critique if your message deserved to be brutally critiqued.

[2:13] And those first couple of critiques for me were brutal, in fact. And there were times, I remember early on in that class where I'd be driving to school and I would, on a couple of occasions, felt like I had to pull over because I was so sick to my stomach.

[2:30] And praying, God, why? Why do I have to go back? But each sermon in class was timed. You had a minimum of 30 minutes.

[2:41] And at 30 minutes, there was a buzzer that would go off in the back of the class. And so you had five minutes to wrap up wherever you were and to present a gospel presentation at the end of your message.

[2:55] And you guys know the gospel presentation, that Jesus came, that Jesus died on the cross, that Jesus rose again, that Jesus ascended into heaven, that Jesus is coming back.

[3:08] And all of the important information that deals with all of that. And so you had to, wherever you were at, at 30 minutes, you had to wrap it up and make sure that you presented the gospel.

[3:21] Otherwise, you would lose points. And I had a really bad habit of leaving my gospel presentation at the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

[3:33] And so I remember on one occasion, after I had done this before, silence after my sermon. And then Dr. Aubrey looking down at his paper and slowly looking up to me and he said, Well, Mike, once again, you left Jesus in the tomb.

[3:51] And that that is not the place where we want to leave Jesus in our gospel presentations, right? When we are sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, that is only half the gospel.

[4:02] That is a huge half to be missing out. Think of we sang in Christ alone this morning. What if we ended at, by darkness slain? What a terrible way to end that song.

[4:14] That's not uplifting. That's encouraging. But then we have the rest of those verses that speak to the truth that Jesus Christ rose from the dead. That Jesus Christ has ascended to the right hand of the Father.

[4:25] That Jesus Christ has been glorified, right? That he is sovereign. That he is King of kings and Lord of lords. And that he is coming back. That is a great truth that we don't want to leave out.

[4:37] But when we do that, when we leave Jesus in his humiliation, we forget the important part of his exaltation. And I don't think that I'm the only one who forgets to do that.

[4:50] I think we see that in many cases as Christians present the gospel, they end at the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. When I go to hospital visits, and a lot of times the hospitals have been Catholic hospitals.

[5:03] And if you've been in such a one, you see that they have a lot of crucifixions. Which are, you know, depictions of Jesus dying on the cross.

[5:14] And I think that for a lot of Christians, that's where they end their gospel presentation. They end at Christ's humiliation. And we see in verse 8 that that's where we're at.

[5:26] That the Apostle Paul has said that he humbled himself, right? And we're going through that V shape, and he's talking about how he has humbled himself. That he came. That he came and took on the flesh.

[5:38] That he came and became a servant, right? And that finally, he died. And not only did he die, but he died on the cross. And that's the bottom section of that V.

[5:51] But then we have the rest in verses 9 through 11. This good news of his exaltation, of his ascension that is critical that we don't miss out. Why?

[6:02] Because we don't worship a crucified dead man. We worship a resurrected and exalted King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

[6:14] And we cannot miss that. This is the fullness of the Christian message. And the gospel is incomplete without an understanding of the exaltation of Jesus Christ.

[6:28] And so Paul is bringing forth here the full message of the gospel. That Jesus voluntarily underwent a humiliation, verses 5 through 8.

[6:39] And that his exaltation resulted from his humiliation, verses 9 through 11. So if you recall, the Apostle Paul has a purpose for why he is bringing this forth.

[6:53] The humiliation and the exaltation of Christ to the Philippian church. He's encouraging them to be unified.

[7:04] And at this point, they were experiencing disunity. And so in 2 through 4, if we're going to go back and see why is Paul presenting this Christ and his humiliation and his exaltation.

[7:18] Well, look at verses 2 through 4 again. He says, Complete my joy by being of the same mind. Have the same love. Being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

[7:35] So now the question arises, Okay, you want us to be unified. How can we experience that level of unity within our church? Then we have verse 5, where Paul says, This is how you have that humility.

[7:48] Verse 5, Have this mind among yourselves, which was in Christ Jesus. So Paul here presents Jesus as the supreme example.

[7:59] This church is experiencing a practical problem that all churches experience. Again, it's disunity. It's conflict within the congregation that derails the church from its mission.

[8:12] So Paul is saying here, If you're going to be unified like you ought to be, Then you must follow the example of Jesus. Jesus humbled himself.

[8:24] As you too then must humble yourselves. Then he describes the descent of Jesus again, And his humility in verses 6 through 8. He was in the form of God, But he did not feel that that was something that he must be grasped, But he emptied himself, right?

[8:39] He left behind those divine prerogatives, And he came taking on the form of man, And being a servant in the likeness of men, He humbled himself to the point of death, Even death on a cross.

[8:52] And then in verses 9 through 11, We have that wonderful upward turn That culminates in the exaltation of Jesus Christ. So here's the implication.

[9:04] This is what Paul is, The point that Paul is trying to make, That those who seek to exalt themselves Will create disunity within the church, And ultimately they will be humbled by God.

[9:23] Then he's also saying, Those who seek to humble themselves Will contribute to the unity of the church, And ultimately that will mean That they will be exalted by God, And so will their church.

[9:42] So here it is, very basic. This is the point that he's making. This is the application. It's this. He who humbles himself will be exalted. He who humbles himself will be exalted.

[9:54] Doesn't that sound familiar? It should. Look at Matthew 23. Jesus saying, The greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, And whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

[10:10] You seek to elevate yourself, And he says, God will push you down. But if you push yourself down, God will lift you up.

[10:23] Whatever you try to cover up, God will uncover. And whatever you uncover to God, God will cover it up. If you humble yourself, You will be exalted.

[10:35] Humility now, We must understand, Is not meaning that you hate yourself, But it's this. Humility is thinking less of yourself.

[10:49] It doesn't mean that you think of your, Less, Let me say that again, Because I'm going to confuse you. Humility is, Not thinking less of yourself, But it's thinking of yourself less.

[11:01] Does that make sense? Now here's the other thing, So don't try to play reverse psychology with God either, When you're praying, Oh God, I'm nothing, I'm nobody, You know, I don't know why you'd ever do this for me, But you know, If you did, You would be wonderful, Or whatever, Like your kids try to play reverse psychology with you, Okay, God knows who you are, And he knows the motivation behind your prayers.

[11:18] But let's look again at Luke chapter 14, We see this truth there, But when you are invited, Go and sit in the lowest place, So that when your host comes, He may say to you, Friend, Move up higher, Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit and table with you, For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, And he who humbles himself will be exalted.

[11:41] Then again, In the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector, You remember that one, Where they're both in the temple, And they are both praying, And the Pharisee is talking about how great he is, And how wonderful he is, And how thankful he is, That God has made him so wonderful, And great, And awesome, And whatever, And then the tax collector is down a little bit further, And again, The Pharisee says, And thank you, Lord, That I'm not like that sinner over there.

[12:03] But then you have the tax collector, Who won't even look up to heaven, Right? He's humble, He's beating his breast, You know, God, Why would you be forgiving and gracious to me, A sinner? And then what does Jesus say about those two men?

[12:15] He tells us in Luke 18, I tell you, This man went down to his house justified, The tax collector, Rather than the other, For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, But he who humbles himself will be exalted.

[12:31] Again, This truth is reiterated by Peter, Or James, In James chapter 4, Verse 10, Humble yourself before the Lord, And he will exalt you. And by Peter, Verse Peter, Beginning in the midway of verse 5 through 6, Clothe yourselves, All of you, With humility toward one another, For God opposes the proud, But gives grace to the humble.

[12:54] Humble yourselves, Therefore, Under the mighty hand of God, So at the proper time he might, What? Exalt you. It's pretty clear, I think. So here's your gospel truth, For the day that you can take to the bank, And count upon.

[13:10] In the divine economy of things, It is the person who gives, That receives. It is the person who serves another, Who will be served in return.

[13:21] It is the person who loses their life, Who will, In fact, Find it. It is by dying to self, That one is able to truly live. The self-sacrificing person, Is the one, Who will be exalted.

[13:37] And again, Jesus is our example of humility. He is the example of the kind of exaltation, That God will grant to every believer, Who lives like this.

[13:48] Humbly like their Lord. And so if you remember last week, We talked about the need in our church, To be a counterculture. Jesus calls us to live lives, That are different than the rest, Of the unbelieving world.

[14:03] And if we are going to be, The salt of the earth, And the city on the hill, And the light of the world, That we've been called to be, Then that means that we are going to have to be, A church that not only preaches the gospel, But lives the gospel.

[14:16] And that will require, Our being like Jesus. Which means that we must be humble. And the promise is, That if we humble ourselves, Christ will be exalted, Through us.

[14:30] By us. Which means, Christ will be exalted, And we will be, That city on the hill, That counters culture, With the truth, Of Jesus Christ.

[14:42] And who wouldn't be, Want to belong, To a culture, Like that. So let's again, Let's begin again, By reflecting on, How God has highly, Exalted Jesus.

[14:54] And then we'll reflect, Upon what that means, For us, Today, And, Into next week. So first of all, We see that God the Father, Has exalted, Jesus the Son.

[15:07] Verses 5 through 11, We see that very clearly. God the Father, Has exalted Jesus the Son. How has he done that? Well, The Father has exalted the Son, Because, He, Was humble.

[15:21] He exalted him, Because he was, Humble. In verse 9, If you look in your Bible, You'll see, That it begins, With the word, Therefore. And you know, As a student of scripture, That anytime you see, The word, Therefore, You have to ask yourself, A question.

[15:37] What is, That word, Therefore, Therefore, Why is it there? We've covered these verses, In greater detail, In the past couple of weeks, So this morning, I'm not going to spend, As much time in them, But, Therefore, Why has, Has Christ been exalted?

[15:53] Well, Look, Because he, Instead of grasping, Was giving. Verse 6, Who though he was, In the form of God, He did not count, In equality with God, A thing to be grasped, This, Again, If you remember, From last week, Was his humble renunciation, He left behind, The glories, And the riches of heaven, In his face-to-face, Relationship, With the father, To be incarnated, As the God, Man, Fully God, Fully man, Secondly, Instead of being served, Jesus was a servant, In verse 7, But he emptied himself, By taking the form of a servant, Being born in the likeness of men, This was his humble incarnation, Jesus submitted to the father's will, And he obeyed it perfectly, All that the law required, And commanded, He did it, Completely, He was a servant, Thirdly, Instead of seeking to preserve his life, Jesus was a willing sacrifice, In verse 8, And being found in human form,

[16:56] He humbled himself, By becoming obedient to the point of death, Even death on a cross, Now don't misunderstand this, Nobody forced Jesus' life from him, Nobody, He willingly laid it down, He had the power to do, What the mockers were challenging him to do, Right, If you're truly the son of God, Then come off that cross, He had the power to do that, And yet, He didn't, Instead, He stayed there, On the cross, And endured the wrath of God, Towards our sins, In our place, As 2 Corinthians 5, 521 says, For our sake, He made him, Jesus, To be sin, Who knew no sin, So that in him, We might become the righteousness of God, He bore our sin, And we get to be clothed in his righteousness, Those of us who believe and receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior,

[17:59] That is a wonderful, Wonderful truth, So that's the bottom point again of that V, That's the rock bottom place of Christ's humiliation, That's the low point, Beaten, Tortured, Ridiculed, Stripped of his clothing, Crucified between two thieves, And laid to rest in a borrowed tomb, But thank God, That that is not where the story ends, The Father has bestowed upon the Son, The name that is above every name, Look again at verse 9, Therefore God has highly exalted him, And bestowed on him the name that is above every name, So now here's the question, What is that name?

[18:49] At first glance, You'd look at that and you'd think, Well, it's Jesus, Jesus is the name, That he's referring to, But if you look again on closer inspection at verse 10, We see that it's the name of Jesus, The name of Jesus, You see that?

[19:08] It doesn't say, So at the name Jesus, But at the name of Jesus, It's a name that is bestowed upon Jesus, Not at his birth, But it is a title that is given to Jesus by the Father, After fulfilling the work of his incarnation, And as part of his exaltation, Look at Hebrews 1, 3 through 4, Let's dig and figure out, What is this name?

[19:35] There it says, He is the radiance of the glory of God, The exact imprint of his nature, And he upholds the universe, By the word of his power, After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the majesty on high, Having become as much superior to angels, As the name he has inherited, Is more excellent than theirs, Let's dig some more, Now you remember in the Old Testament, There's a couple of occasions, Several occasions, Where God has changed a man's name, Remember Abram became Abraham, After he entered into a covenant relationship with God, And that established a new, Unique relationship that he had with the Father, Jacob likewise had his name changed by God, Do you remember what that was?

[20:24] Israel, Israel, In the New Testament, Simon, Has his name changed to Peter, By Jesus, After Jesus calls him to follow him, Saul's name was changed to Paul, Because he would be an apostle to the Gentiles, So what I want you to see is that here, We aren't seeing something that is outside of what we've seen happen other places in scripture, That God at times will change a person's name in such a way as to redefine or indicate a new stage In that person's life that has occurred, In Revelations 2, 17 and 3, 12, The Bible declares that those who ever overcome will be given a new name, Let's look at Revelations 3, 12, The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, Speaking of the church, Never shall he go out and I will write on him the name of my God,

[21:26] Speaking of Christians, In the name of the city of my God, The new Jerusalem, Which comes down from God out of heaven, And my own new name, So again, According to scripture, This isn't a strange concept or a new practice, So what's the name, This name that is bestowed upon Jesus?

[21:47] Well, Look at verse 11, Philippians chapter 2, Verse 11, Every tongue will confess that Jesus is who? Lord!

[21:57] Every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord! Now that shouldn't be a new concept for you, No doubt many of you have associated Lord with Jesus, But maybe you haven't seen or understood just how significant it is that Jesus has been given that name, Or that he's been given that title, Lord here in the Greek is kurios, And it means master, Or owner, It's the Greek equivalent of the Old Testament word Adonai, Which was often used in place of the personal name of God, Which is Yahweh, The ancient Hebrew language, Which the Old Testament was written in, Did not have vowels in the alphabet, So the second class that I wanted to avoid in seminary as long as possible, Was Hebrew class, Because not only do you have to read it left to right, But it's all consonants, And you have to figure out where the vowels are,

[23:00] It's a very difficult language to learn, But in the original Hebrew, God's name was transliterated in four letters, Right? Without the vowels, Because they were terrified of his, Of disrespecting him in any way, So it was those four letters, Yod, Hey, Vav, Hey, That's what we call the tetragrammaton, And that fancy word means four letters, Due to a fear again of accidentally taking God's name in vain, The Jews basically quit saying that name, Yahweh, Out loud, Altogether, So instead, When they read scripture aloud, The Jews substituted those four letters with the word Adonai, Lord, So what is God's name, And what does it mean?

[23:50] That name, Yahweh, Refers to God's self-existence, Yahweh, Is linked to how God described himself in Exodus 3, 14, Remember, As Moses is going to be sent back to Egypt, And he asked God, Who am I to say?

[24:07] Who am I to tell them? Who sends me? And God said to Moses, Tell them this, I am who I am, Is sending you, Has sent you, Right? That's what Yahweh is, I am who I am, And so God's name is a reflection of his being, It is a reflection of his self-existence, Or his self-sufficiency, Only God has life in and of himself, That's the essential meaning of Yahweh, Now look at Isaiah 45 with me, Declare and present your case, Let them take counsel together, Who told this long ago?

[24:51] Who declared it of old? What is, Was it not I, The Lord? See all capital letters, That's the name of God, Yahweh, And there is no other God besides me, A righteous God and Savior, There is none besides me, Turn to me and be saved, All the ends of the earth, For I am God and there is no other, By myself I have sworn from my mouth, As has gone out in righteousness, A word that shall not return, To me every knee shall bow, Every tongue shall swear allegiance, Sound like Philippians chapter 2, Where we just read, Just a moment ago, Here God is declaring that he is Lord, And as such he is supreme, He is the one who possesses all of authority, He is the one who is completely righteous, He is the one and only one, Who is able to save, So there we see that every knee will bow to Jesus,

[25:54] Why? Because he is Lord, He is the only one able to save, This includes everyone, Every man, Fallen and redeemed, Along with every angel in heaven, And those who fell, All will bow the knee to Jesus, Because he is Lord, Some will do so willingly, Because God has saved them, And they will do so rejoicing, Acknowledging, That Jesus is Lord, And others we see will do so unwillingly, And painfully, Affirming that Jesus is Lord, Every knee will bow to him, And also every tongue will confess, That Jesus is Lord, You know we live in a very divisive time, And it's difficult,

[26:55] In really almost any situation, To get people to agree, Unanimously with one another, But here on this day, We will have universal, Unanimous agreement, That Jesus is Lord, People will confess that, Some again willingly, Rejoicing in that truth, Others unwillingly, And painfully, And for that group, Who does so unwillingly, Their submission, And affirmation, Of Jesus as Lord, Will be too late, Look at Revelations chapter 20, Verses 11 through me, And this is, One of the most, If not the most, Frightening passage, In all of scripture, To read in detail, What awaits those, Who are unredeemed,

[27:56] Then I saw a great white throne, And him who was seated on it, From his presence, Earth and sky fled away, And no place was found for them, Have you ever been in a cave before, I'm just going to stop there for a second, It's a weird question to ask, Have you ever been in a cave, There's a time where we went, As a youth group, There was a cave, At one of the retreat centers, We went to, And I mean, It was a legitimate cave, Where you had to crawl through, Tiny little spaces, You came out covered in clay, And you stunk, And it was just, A very scary experience, For many of our teens, But we got into a place, Where we were in an open spot, Where all of us could be, And our guide asked us, To turn the lights out, Our flashlights out, Have you ever been in that dark, Of a place before, You can't see your hand, In front of your face, It's terrifying, And so here we have, All that we know, It's gone, And all there is, Is creation, And Jesus,

[28:59] Men, Fallen and unredeemed, Spiritual beings, Fallen and unredeemed, That's what I mean by creation, Blackness, And this great white throne, Okay, Let's continue, No place to hide, No place to run, And I saw the dead, Great and small, Standing before the throne, And books were opened, Then another book was opened, Which is the book of life, And the dead were judged, By what was written in the books, According to what they had done, And the sea gave up the dead, Who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead, Who were in them, And they were judged, Each one of them, According to what they had done, Then death and Hades, Were thrown in the lake of fire, And this is the second death, The lake of fire, And if anyone's name, Was not found written, In the book of life, He was thrown, Thrown into the lake of fire, Man, That terrifies me, Not for me personally, But for those, Whom I know,

[29:59] Who are unredeemed, But here's the good news, There's still time, That Jesus has not come yet, And he's still calling men, And women to receive him, As Lord, And Savior, Let's look at 2nd Peter, Chapter 3, Verses 11, Through 13, The Lord is not slow, To fulfill his promise, As some count slowness, But is patient towards you, Not wishing that any should perish, But that all should reach repentance, But the day of the Lord will come, Like a thief, And then the heavens will pass away, With a roar, And the heavenly bodies will be burned up, And dissolved in the earth, And the works that are done on it, Will be exposed, Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, What sort of people ought you to be, In lives of holiness and godliness, Waiting for, And hastening the coming of the day of God, Because of which the heavens will be set on fire, And dissolved, And the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn,

[31:03] So here is the question, That I want to ask you right now, What are you doing currently, That will last for eternity? What are you doing right now, That has an eternal impact?

[31:23] For us as a church, We voted on at our last business meeting, The implementation of a new vision statement, And my hope and my prayer, Is that it will result in our doing, What we're doing now, And even more so, Things for the kingdom of God, That will last forever.

[31:45] So I want to go over, With you here, The first, Is that we are going to be, An engaging church, We're going to engage our community, And the nations with the gospel, Right?

[31:58] While we still have time, While the Lord is still delayed in coming, We have work to do, How are we to be living, Our lives in godliness? Well, We are to be engaging, Our community, And the nations, With the gospel, Secondly, Enlightening, Hearts and minds, With the word of God, So our prayer is that, As we are engaging our community, And we are sharing the gospel, That God is leading them, That God is bringing them, To our church, That he is calling them, Into relationship with him, And that there we are enlightening, Not just them, But each other, Our hearts and our minds, With the word of God, So what does this mean, If you have questions about the Bible, If you have things, That you're not sure about, This is not a place, Where we want you to check your brains out, At the door, You know, When you're here, We want you to use, Your complete and full mental faculties, So we're going to enlighten, Each other, This is what God's word says, This is how it applies to your life, And man, This is the great news,

[32:59] That results, When you apply, God's truth, To your everyday life, Thirdly, Encouraging believers, In their walk with Christ, Because here's the thing, We are sinners, Right?

[33:15] And as sinners, Though we are seeking, To be obedient to the Lord, We stumble, From time to time, So this is our hope with this, That church is a place, Where it's okay to not be okay, You know what I'm saying?

[33:29] This is a place, Where you can be honest, With your brothers and sisters in Christ, When they ask you, Hey what kind of week did you have, What's going on in your life, And you can tell them the truth, And you know that they're not going to use it, Against you later on, Or they're not going to go, And spread it, And gossip to somebody else, But there is going to be a place, Where you will be encouraged, In your walk with Christ, Because guess what, Life is hard, And God has put us into community, With one another, So that we can bear one another's burdens, And church is a place, Where you should be encouraged, Fourthly, Equipping the saints, For the work of the ministry, So not only are you being encouraged, You're being enlightened, But you're being equipped, To go out and engage, Your community, And so here, At the end of March, We're going to do an event, Called Engage, Which we hope to do more of, And you'll learn more about it, But it's, In line with this vision, We want to be a church, That makes disciples,

[34:30] That disciples, Disciples, We want to be a place, Where what we are doing, The work, The time that we are spending, Has an eternal impact, For the kingdom of God, And so, You will hear more about, Those four E's, As time goes on, And you're going to get to a point, Where you're going to be tired of me, Saying those things, But too bad, So here's our, That's our mission, Here's our vision statement, This is our desired end, To be a church, That advances the gospel, In our city, In our region, And throughout the nations, By making disciples, For the glory of Jesus Christ, Not for our glory, But for his glory, In short, To be part of something, That will last forever, In order for this vision, And mission to become a reality, We must submit, To the lordship, Of Jesus Christ, Here's what I mean by that, Queen Elizabeth, Right, Of England, Of England, This is her official title,

[35:32] When she's introduced, In England to a place, This is the title, That will go before her, Elizabeth II, By the grace of God, Of the United Kingdom, Of Great Britain, And Northern Ireland, And of other, Of her other realms, And territories, Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the faith, With the style, Of majesty, And now, Not to sound disrespectful, But to be quite honest, With you, Those titles, Mean nothing, They mean nothing, She's not really, The queen of England, Do you know that?

[36:11] She doesn't really have, The authority, Or the power, Of a monarch, She's just a figurehead, And again, Not to be disrespectful, But she's kind of like, The mascot for the nation, She's rich, And she's wealthy, Right?

[36:25] She does have influence, But she cannot rule, As lord, Over the people, Of England, And I bring that up, To say this, Maybe for you, And certainly for a lot, Of Christians, We treat Jesus Christ, Like England, Treats the queen, Of England, Right?

[36:43] We'll give you, We'll give you your little place, Over here Jesus, Right? And we'll talk nice about you, And we'll, We'll give you, Common courtesies, And you know, We want you to be, We want you to be talked about, Certainly when we get together, But we're not submitting, To him, As lord, And that's what this is saying, Isn't it?

[37:02] Over and over and over again, Jesus says this, Right? I am lord, This title has been bestowed upon him, Are you living, As if Jesus is truly, The lord of your life, If he's truly, The lord of your life, Then you read this word, And you submit, To what it has to say, Having authority, Over your life, In every way, You live, To serve him, And the great thing, About serving Jesus, As we saw, In the scripture read today, In, In, In the, Luke chapter 13, That Jesus, The lord, Is the one who serves, And washes his disciples feet, This is an amazing thing, That we get to share, In the exaltation, Of god the father, Exalting his son, Who then receives glory, For that, And we get to be a part of that, But you know what, If we aren't living, With Jesus as lord, Of our lives, Then god won't be able, To use your life, Like he could, And he won't be able, To use this church,

[38:02] Like he wants to, So here's the thing, Again, Is Jesus your lord, He's your savior, But he demands, That you, That he be much more, Than that, That he is lord, And here's the other thing, You don't make Jesus lord, Okay, You can't make Jesus lord, Because he is lord, And we see, That at the end of the day, At the day, Everybody will bow, And confess, That that is the truth, So, If he is lord, Then how are you, Going to live, Your life, And the things that you do, For Jesus Christ, And for his church, Have a lasting, Eternal, Impact, And we get to have, A part of that, And I want to close, With the last, Fill in that I have, Out of time for the rest, The father will be glorified, By his exaltation,

[39:02] Of the son, And here's this, Wonderful mystery, Of the trinity, The father exalts, The son, And the son being exalted, Exalts the father, There's no disunity, Amongst the trinity, There is no, Disharmony, There is no rivalry, There is no jealousy, They share in that glory, That each one receives, And thank God, That we who live humbly, In submission to Jesus as Lord, Will get to be a part, Of this wonderful, Wonderful exaltation, Thank you.
