[0:00] Recall now when we left off in our study that God has commissioned Moses to go before Pharaoh! and present to him God's demands in letting his people go. [0:23] ! He said in the last thing we saw in particular, he said to them, to Moses that he and Aaron are to go in and explain to Pharaoh that Israel is his son and that he is to let him go from the bondage. [0:45] And in that then we recognize the reality that it's not just the fact that Israel was a people created by God, by God's sovereign will, and that's true. [0:57] But that's not all there was to that. He was about to bring them into a particular relationship as his covenant people. And in that verse he said, they are my son by possession. [1:12] All right? He loves them. He's going to deal with them as their father. So that's the idea of the relationship being the paramount picture there. [1:23] And of course we brought that down to our particular relationship with God. As far as the fact that salvation for us is the idea of a relationship. It's not just the idea of sins being forgiven and giving us a home in heaven, which it does. [1:40] But it's the idea of a relationship. That God brings us into a relationship as his adult sons, if you will, by adoption. [1:52] And that's the picture that we looked at last time. Now, again, after God has given to him the instructions to go to Pharaoh, before he gets to do that, something else took place, if you recall. [2:10] God brings Moses to a place of threatening him with death. Anybody remember what the reason for that was? Why did God threaten Moses with death? [2:24] Circumcision. All right. God had commanded Moses that all the firstborn of Israel, firstborn males, would undergo circumcision as a token of the covenant relationship to come with those people, with the Jews. [2:40] Two sons that Moses had. Picture was, remember, one evidently had already been circumcised, but the other one had not. And we bannered that around a little bit, more than likely because of his standing with Zipporah, his wife, and her family as Midianites, and her abhorrence of that right of circumcision. [3:06] That he failed to do that. He did not do that. He neglected to do that to his other son. As a result, God threatened death with him. Zipporah stepped in, circumcised the child, recall, through the foreskin at the feet of Moses, called him a bloody husband or a bloody bridegroom, and exposing her hatred for that right of circumcision. [3:30] Now, after that, well, God had a reason for that. And one of the basic reasons was, first one, is the idea that God was going to show to Moses the reality of his sin. [3:44] Bring a consciousness to Moses of the sin that he had committed against God. But secondly, it was to show Moses the extent to which God expects his people to be obedient to him and obedient to his commands. [4:01] He needed to know that. He needed to see that in order to fulfill the things that God's called him to do. Now, we're going to begin to see the reasons why in that this evening, as we move forward in a minute into chapter 5. [4:16] But that's where we left off. Now, God, of course, because of Zipporah's taking action in the circumcision, withdrew the idea of death from Moses, and they were ready to carry on. [4:30] So, with that in mind, something has to happen here, and something does happen in the last part of chapter 4, in verses, what verse is it, 27, is it not yet? [4:40] Verses 27 through 31. Let's read that together, if you will. And the Lord said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. [4:51] And he went and met him in the mount of God and kissed him. And Moses told Aaron all the words of the Lord who had sent him and all the signs which he had commanded him. [5:05] And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel and spake all the words which the Lord had spoken unto Moses and did the signs in the sight of the people. [5:18] And the people believed. And when they heard that the Lord had visited the children of Israel and that he had looked upon their afflictions, then they bowed their heads and worshipped. [5:29] So, now God gives really two different tokens now to Moses that would again reaffirm in his mind the reality that God had called him and commissioned him into this particular task. [5:46] That first token was the arrival of Aaron. Because you recognize earlier on, God would say, God said that that would happen. That Aaron would come to him. [5:57] And so, when Aaron came now to Moses and met him there in the region of Mount Horeb where God originally appeared to him and encountered Moses for the first time, that Aaron then comes there to speak with and to meet Moses. [6:15] I'm sure they caressed and hugged one another. He was glad to see them, right? And because realize, you know, the excuses that Moses used when God said, you're going to go speak to Pharaoh. [6:27] One of them was, Lord, I'm a thick tongue. You know, I cannot do this. I'm not an eloquent speaker. I cannot, you know, it's just not right for me to go before Pharaoh and speak to him. [6:42] So, God said, all right, I'll acquiesce that and I'll bring Aaron along with you, your brother. He speaks well and he can be your spokesman. [6:53] You'll be like God to him, his inspiration to what to say. And he will be your prophet in speaking to Pharaoh. So, he's glad to see Aaron come because now he knows God is going to do what he said. [7:08] He's not going to have to go to Pharaoh all by himself. And then the second thing that happens, the second token that God gives is mentioned in the idea here that as Aaron and Moses go to the elders of Israel and bring all the people together and Aaron speaks to the people about what Moses has said that God had told him and the things that he was going to do and he was going to deliver Israel out of this bondage. [7:37] And they performed the miracles that God had given them in front of the people so they could really get a hold on the fact this is really what's going to happen. [7:47] This is what God's really said because this is a token and proof of that being the fact here. They bore witness to that. And so, notice the last phrase here of those verses we just read. [8:02] That when they heard that Jehovah had visited the children of Israel and had looked upon the reflections, they bowed and they worshipped. All right? [8:13] They bowed and they worshipped. That's a picture of the people accepting what Moses and Aaron had said and shown to them about God saying what he had said to them and commissioned them to do what he commissioned them to do. [8:28] They accepted that. They believed that. So, there's another token. There's the second token that God had given to Moses after his being threatened with death here. [8:45] Now, go to chapter 5 with me now. So, we go back on their way. I've titled this, you notice, A Trial of True Belief. [8:56] All right? A Trial of True Belief. Get the picture here. Everybody is just rejoicing. God has visited his people. [9:07] He's going to redeem us. He's going to bring us out of Egyptian bondage that we've been in for so long. The day is finally about to come. [9:19] What do, well, let's just put it on our own planet here. What do we think of here? Let's put ourselves in that day and time here. [9:31] When Moses and Aaron come and address the people with all of this, they rejoice and they bow and they worship. What are the people thinking? [9:43] Yeah. Yeah. God's going to do this right now. All right? Right now. You know. Yeah. After all, the prophets are going to say God will suddenly come to his people and of course, that'll be down the road. [9:57] But yeah. Right now. Right. Boy, where about? Let's get ready. Put your shoes on. Let's go. Amen. That's no doubt the expectation because of what we begin to see here. [10:07] When this thing all begins to come to pass, they begin to speak to Pharaoh. All right. And see what happens there. So they go to Pharaoh. [10:19] Their first encounter here with Pharaoh is surprising. Not surprising by what God does, but by what Pharaoh does. This thing, this first encounter in the message is repulsed by Pharaoh. [10:35] All right. And that results then in an additional increase of their labors and the harshness of the work that they were doing already. Now, as a result, we're going to see that they then will what? [10:50] Again, I say, got to be Baptist people, pastor. Got to be Baptist folks. First thing they do is complain. Amen. Because their burden becomes heavier, they could complain to Moses of all things. [11:07] Moses, look what you've done here. You've caused heartache to be increased upon us. And so, you know, what's the deal here? [11:19] And so as a result, we're going to see that Moses then brings his complaint before God. So, realize that the first attempt of Moses that we'll see here in a minute is a seeming failure. [11:32] All right. So it brings complaint. Why did God do that to Moses? [11:45] But Moses is a Baptist. He's hard-headed. It doesn't sink in. It's a heartfelt Baptist. What is it that God has to do here? [11:58] Why is it? Why is it he strung? And I know God told him it was going to happen. But why did he string this out so long? It's so vital. [12:08] How many of you have ever felt like a failure in your service to the Lord? Yeah. [12:19] Yeah. Sure. The vital thing about that is when we feel like we've had failure, we've been a failure, failure, or that whatever God called us to do and we attempted to do that and it failed. [12:35] The paramount thing is how do we respond to that seeming failure? How do we do that? How do we, what are we going to do in that? Hmm? [12:46] Somebody tell me what you did. That's what we should do. But what do we do? Cry up and complain, throw a pity party. [12:56] Yeah. God, how dare you? How dare you call me to do that knowing that I'm going to fail? I can't do that. [13:07] Usually we tell God that before we ever go. Yeah. Yeah. But what's vital is what Mike said. We've got to get this whole thing. We'll see more of this in a minute from God's perspective here. [13:20] Man, this is just the beginning. Right? Who is it? It was an R.G. Lee, the old preacher used to say, payday's not always on the 1st and the 15th. Yeah. [13:32] This thing takes a while. It depends on what God is attempting to complete, what he's attempting to show us, what he's attempting to teach us in our own lives and others as well. [13:43] Sometimes that is a lengthy process that God needs to take us through and he knows he needs to take us through that. And so we do. And part of that includes seeming failure. [13:56] Notice that word seeming failure. If it's part of the work of God and that's been completed, it's not failure. It's accomplished what God wanted to accomplish through that. [14:11] Amen. And that is to get through the hard head of us Baptists about how he works. Amen. Yeah. Yeah. Not just Baptists. [14:23] Amen. Yeah. Any of God's people. Yeah. Now, so, need to learn how to deal with this idea of seeming failure. [14:34] All right. Now, so this is just a preliminary thing that they went through. Now, look in verse 1 and 2 of chapter 5. Afterward, Moses and Aaron went in and told Pharaoh. [14:51] Now, remember, they're riding high here. The people have bowed and worshiped God. So, you know, they've accepted what they've told them and shown them they're on their way. It's like Dorothy and the lion and the tin man and the scarecrow on the road to the yellow brick road to Oz. [15:09] Yeah. Excited, anticipating great victory here. Afterward, Moses and Aaron went in and told Pharaoh. Thus saith the Lord God. Thus saith Jehovah Elohim of Israel. [15:22] Let my people go that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness. Okay. Got the picture here. Let my people go so they can have a feast offer unto me an offering in the wilderness and hold a feast in that offering. [15:40] Pharaoh said. Notice this response here. So, you know here who he's dealing with. Pharaoh said. Who is Jehovah? [15:51] Who is he? That I should obey his voice to let Israel go. I know not Jehovah. Neither will I let Israel go. [16:05] Now. What a response, huh? Who is Jehovah? Now, keep in mind here. [16:17] A brand new, different Pharaoh. Pharaoh. Then Moses grew up with. All right. Don't know how many down the line. It's a brand new Pharaoh. [16:28] Or brand new, but it's a different Pharaoh. All right. A Pharaoh to whom God has not to this point manifest himself to. Who is Jehovah? [16:40] That I should obey his voice. I don't know him. All right. Now. They make the demand before Pharaoh. [16:53] Let my people go so they can worship. In a celebratory feast and offer offerings to me. Now. Interesting here. [17:06] Even though. Even though. Pharaoh is totally oblivious to Jehovah. It's commonplace. For a people. [17:18] Whatever in the nation. Whatever the supposed deity that they proclaim and worship. To offer a feast. To their God. [17:30] In the place that their God. Determined that to be done. Not only that. How. [17:42] Back in those days. How. Did a king or a ruler. Determine the strength of a people's God. Had they determined that. [17:56] Yeah. By the condition of the people. Israel. At this point. Under severe bondage. Are really. [18:08] Really. Weak. So it would be a natural thing for him. To see that. As God. Their God. Jehovah. [18:19] Being a terribly weak. God. Because his people are weak. They're under bondage. To him. So. Under natural circumstances. He. Why not let him go. [18:32] You know. There's no threat. For them leaving. They'll be back. But the idea is this. What. What do you think that points to? What do you think that points to? [18:46] Pharaoh. Not only has no regard. For Jehovah. But we get the idea. He has no regards. At all. For any God. Even the pagan gods. [18:57] Of Egypt. He has no. Consideration for them. No desire. To have any consideration. Of them. The only thing. The only thing that's important to him. [19:08] Is himself. And his kingdom. And the reality. That these people of Israel. That are in severe bondage to him. Are people that he can use. [19:18] To glorify himself. Glorify his kingdom. By building great monumental buildings. To himself. It's all he wants. It's all he knows. [19:28] Who's Jehovah. That I should let the people go. Who is that? Now. Look at verse 3. [19:41] And they said. The God of the Hebrews. Hath met with us. Let us go. We pray thee. Three days journey. [19:52] Into the desert. And sacrifice. Under Jehovah. Our God. Lest he fall upon us. With pestilence. Or with. With the sword. [20:03] Now. You know. Lest he fall upon us. Literally to strike. Or to hit against somebody. And the idea here. It's an expression. [20:14] Of a violent death. If you will. Employed by. A particular God. All right. Is the idea here. [20:25] So. That was the thread here. And I got to thinking about that. This afternoon. I thought. You know. You know. You would think. Even with that statement. Pharaoh would be concerned. That if Jehovah. [20:36] Were to come. And strike Israel. With severe death. That that would include. Some of the Egyptians too. That that would be. A problem for him. But it didn't seem. [20:47] To be. Now. Verses 4 and 5. The king of Egypt. Said unto them. Wherefore. Do ye. [20:57] Moses and Aaron. Let the people. From their works. Get you. Unto your burdens. Pharaoh said. Behold. The people of the land. [21:08] Now are many. And you make them rest. From your burdens. Pharaoh's not going to hear. Anything. Of this idea. Of worshiping. Going in. [21:18] Worshiping Jehovah. And celebrate. With a feast. And sacrifices. His idea is this. These guys. [21:29] Are just wanting. The day off. Yeah. Or they just want to go out. And create a holiday here. You know. It's the. It's the. Egyptian. [21:40] Bondage day. You know. Holiday. Weekend. You know. That they want to establish here. That's what he's saying here. So he's not going to have. [21:51] Anything. To do. With it. At all. Get. Unto your. Burdens. Get back to work. In other words. You know. [22:03] If he was to let them off. On a holiday. He would lose. A day's work. Or whatever. And that's not going to happen. These are the people. Of the land. He said. [22:14] And that phrase. The people of the land. Or land. Land people. Is equivalent. To common people. Or. Just. The ordinary. Commoner. If you will. [22:25] The working class. Of people. In distinction. To the ruling class. Of the Egyptians. Now. He said. I'm not going. To let you. [22:36] Go. Verses. Six. Through eight. Pharaoh. Commanded. The same day. The taskmasters. Of the people. And their officers. Saying. Ye shall no more. [22:47] Give the people. Straw. To make bricks. As heretofore. Let them go. And gather. Straw. For themselves. And the tail. Or the number. Of the bricks. [22:57] Which they did make. Heretofore. Ye shall lay upon them. Ye shall not diminish. Aught thereof. For they be idle. Therefore. They cry. Saying. [23:07] Let us go. Sacrifice. To our God. Wow. You know. What a guy. Huh? What a guy. They're asking. [23:18] They're asking. For a day off. Must be. Because they're idle. They're not busy enough. All right. They're not working. Hard enough. He thinks. [23:29] They're not working. Hard enough. Because they're wanting. A day. Just to play around. So let's make it. To where. They don't want to do that. And that's the whole key here. He's going to make it. [23:39] So that they. Don't desire. A day off. Because they work so hard. The only thing they'll want to do. After a hard long day's work. [23:50] Is to go home. Go to bed. So they can get up the next morning. And do more work. So what does he do? Instead of others. [24:03] Bringing. Straw to them. To make the brick with. They're now. Going to have to go out. And get. Their own straw. Stubble. [24:15] Break it apart. Crush it up. Put it in the clay. To make the bricks with it. So it can lay out. And dry in the sun. So they've got to do both. [24:25] And. To kick that off. They have to. Produce. The same. Amount. Of brick. That they did. [24:37] When other people. Were bringing in the straw. No let up. None at all. Yeah. And. This will. You know. This will fix you. [24:47] It's like my dad used to say. That'll show them. How the cow ate the cabbage. Right. Now. Nine. Through. Nine. Through. Eleven. [24:59] Let. There. More. Work. Be laid. Upon the men. That. They may. Labor. Therein. And. Let. Them. Not. [25:09] Regard. Vain. Words. Now. Those. Vain. Words. That. They're. Talking. About. Here. Are. The. Words. Of. Moses. All right. That. God. Is. Going. To. Deliver. Them. And. Bringing. [25:19] Them. Out. Of. Egyptian. Bondage. Those. Are. The. Vain. Words. That. Pharaoh. Is. Referring. To. Here. All right. The. Task. Masters. Of. The. People. Went. Out. [25:29] And. Their. Officers. And. They. Spake. To. The. People. Saying. Thus. Said. Pharaoh. Say. Pharaoh. I. Will. Not. Give. You. Straw. Go. Get. You. Straw. Where. You. Can. [25:39] Find. It. Yet. Not. All. Of. Your. Work. Shall. Be. Diminished. Now. The. Rendering. Let. The. Work. Be. Heavy. Press. Heavily. Upon. The. People. And. [25:50] They. Shall. Make. With. It. Stick. To. Their. Work. And. Not. Look. At. Lying. Words. As. One. Rendering. Of. That. Passage. Here. Now. Verse. [26:02] 12. Through. 13. 12. And. 13. Here. So. The. People. Were. Scattered. Abroad. Throughout. All. The. Land. Of. Egypt. To. Gather. Stubble. Instead. Of. Straw. Now. [26:13] It's. Not. Really. Instead. Of. Straw. Here. They. Were. To. Gather. The. Stubble. Or. The. Straw. That's. Laid. Out. In. [26:23] The. Field. You know. You can. You can. You can. Drive. Up. To. Kansas. If. You. Dare. The. [26:34] Wilderness. Of. Go. Visit. Dorothy. And. Toto. Yeah. But. If. You. Go. Up. There. [26:44] Right. After. Harvest. What. Are. You. Going. To. See. In. Those. Big. Giant. Fields. Yeah. Yeah. That. Combine. [26:54] Cannot. Get. Right. Down. To. The. Ground. And. Lay it. Bare. You. Got. Stubble. Sticking. Out. Or. Some. Laying. On. The. Ground. Okay. And. That's. What. They're. Talking. About. The. Stubble. [27:05] Is. That. That's. Still. Raised. Up. After. The. Crop. Has. Been. Harvested. You. Know. Just. A. Little. Bit. So. They. Got. To. Go. And. They. Got. To. Cut. That. Down. And. Gather. It. All. Up. And. [27:15] Gather. What's. Laying. On. Itself. And. Just. Gather. That. To. Use. And. Take. Take. It. To. Wherever. They. Go. And. And. Render. It. A. Little. Smaller. [27:25] And. Put. It. Together. With. The. Clay. And. Form. The. Brick. That's. What. They've. Got. To. Do. Now. What. Happens. In. All. Of. This. Go. [27:37] To. Verse. 14. And. The. Officers. Of. The. Children. Of. Israel. Which. Pharaoh's. Taskmasters. Had. Said. Over. Them. Were. Beaten. Remember. They had. [27:47] Gathered. Some. Of. The. People. Of. Israel. To. Serve. As. What. They. Call. Officers. Dealest. Thou. Thus. With. Thy. Servants. There's. No. Straw. Given. Unto. Thy. Servants. And. They. Say. To. Us. Make. [29:03] Brick. And. Behold. Thy. Servants. Are. Beaten. Now. Look. At. The. Said. I. Like. This. People. [32:30] Come. Out. And. Complain. To. Moses. You're. Gonna. Get. Us. Killed. If. You're. Not. Careful. Here. Moses. Goes. To. The. Lord. Notice. [32:43] It. Didn't. Say. All. You. Not. Again. [33:24] What's the problem here? What's the problem? Turn over to Matthew 16. [33:36] In your Bible. Verse 21. Verse 21. From that time forth. Began Jesus. To show unto his disciples. [33:47] How that he must go to Jerusalem. And suffer many things. Of the elders. And chief priests. And scribes. And be killed. And be raised again. [33:58] The third day. Then. Peter took him. Or. Took him aside. If you will. And began to rebuke him. Saying. [34:09] Be it far from you. Lord. This shall not be. Unto thee. Lord. [34:22] I'm not going to let that happen. Impetuous Peter. Right? Yeah. Now. Verse 23. But he turned. [34:34] That's Jesus. He turned. And said. Unto Peter. Get thee behind me. Satan. Satan. Now. [34:44] The connotation here. Of Satan. He's not calling Peter. Satan. But the idea here is. That particular word. Is known. Has the definition. [34:54] Of adversary. So. What he's doing. Jesus is calling Peter. His adversary. Here. Get thee behind me. Adversary. [35:06] Thou art. An offense. Or a stumbling block. What's a stumbling block. Here. What would a stumbling block. [35:18] Be. Stumbling block. Is something. That would impede. Jesus. From accomplishing. In this case. The father's will. Peter. [35:30] You're my adversary. Here. Because you're impeding. What I'm trying to do. Here. And accomplishing. God's purpose. Now. Look what else he says here. [35:43] For thou savest. Not. The idea here. The word is. Relish. You don't. Relish. The things. That be. [35:54] Of God. In other words. You don't. Understand. And you don't. Discern. The will of God. Here. You're looking. [36:05] At things. You cherish. The things. Of men. And not. The things. Of God. That's what you relish. Your mind. Is not. In the spiritual. Mode. Here. Now. [36:15] Don't. Throw an. Accusing. An accusing. Finger. At Peter. Here. Because. Pentecost. Hadn't taken place. Yet. All right. Now. The point. Of this. The point. [36:26] Of it all. Is this. The same. Thing. Moses. And the people. Of Israel. Failed to see. They were still. [36:36] In. And they were in. In spite of. Their bowing. And worshiping. God. At the. At the. Words. And miracles. Of Moses. [36:46] And Aaron. Before them. Earlier. In spite. Of that. They're still. Not. Getting the picture. Here. They're still. [36:57] Not. Discerning. What. The will. Of God. Has got. To be. Here. God. Has said. I'm. Going. To deliver. You. Yeah. [37:08] I'm. Going. To get. You. Set. Free. But. He didn't. Say. When. Didn't. Say. What. It's. Going. To take. He just. Said. I'm. Going. To do. That. So. [37:20] First. Occasion. Beyond. Their. Expectation. It. Did. Not. Happen. Hmm. Where's. God. Boy. Isn't that a sad thing. [37:30] That we do sometimes. Amen. In a lot of our difficulties. And trials. We come up with the same mindset. Where's. God. Where is he. In all of this. [37:40] Well. He's in the same place. He's always been. Amen. Sitting. In heaven. Longing. To show himself. Mighty. To those. Whose lives. And hearts. Are upright. [37:51] Amen. Yeah. Yeah. Now. Yeah. Oh. That we. Recognize. And realize. That. [38:04] We need to get a hold. Of the heart and mind of God. And not only that. Even if God. Is not privy. To show us. Exactly. [38:14] What he's doing. We've got to remember. That he's doing something. Amen. He's got it all mapped out. Got it all planned out. [38:25] And he knows. What it's going to take. To get it there. Even through our lives. So. We just got to trust him. [38:36] Amen. We really. Ever. Learn. To fully. Trust him. In every circumstance. Through every situation. To know. [38:48] That whatever. If I've surrendered. My life. To the person. Of Christ Jesus. God's going to. Do with my life. [38:59] Whatever he wants. To do. To bring it all. As far as. My little. My life's. Little aspect. Of it all. He's going to bring it. [39:09] To fruition. And he'll do that. In whatever means. And method. He wants to do. Now. That's what they needed. To recognize. [39:20] And they didn't. So. May God. Punish you. Because of. Of you. Making our bondage. Even. Even. More difficult. [39:31] And putting. Something in their hands. By which they could bring us. To death. God's purpose. In all of that. Is to develop. The heart. [39:42] And mind. Of the people. Of Israel. Because. Recognize. With me. Well. Let me ask you. The question here. What. [39:53] Is really. Really. Necessary. For a people. To truly. Commit themselves. To the Lord. And follow him. All of their life. What's necessary. [40:07] He's got to get our heart. He's got to have our heart. Our heart. Needs. To have a longing. [40:18] To satisfy. The will of the father. In our lives. And that's what he's attempting to do. With Israel here. [40:29] And that's why. And I. You know. That's got to be one of the reasons. Why he didn't tell Moses. To tell the people. It's going to take a while. Because God knew their heart. [40:42] But they themselves. Are going to have to see their own heart. It's interesting. That. The people. That now. Don't believe. [40:53] That God's going to deliver them. Because he didn't do it the first time. Are the people. That are asking the same God. They don't believe in now. To punish Moses. [41:04] See what I'm saying. Yeah. Oh God didn't. God didn't fulfill what he said. His promises was going to be to us. But God anyway. Punish Moses and Aaron. Yeah. Yeah. [41:15] It's kind of a strange mix there. Isn't it. Yeah. Aren't people sickle. Amen. It seems to me that. Also that. I mean. [41:26] Moses could have gone in. And Pharaoh. I mean. And God had just acted right there. And said. And Pharaoh said. Okay. Yeah. You can go out. And. But. It's almost like a cheap victory. [41:37] For the. The children of Israel. Yeah. That because. They're not. They. They figure. Oh. Hey. This. This. This is easy. Following God's easy. Yeah. Because he's going to go. And. [41:48] It seems to me that. In hindsight. I mean. We can see it in hindsight. But. He was preparing them. For the rest of. Yeah. The Israel. Civilization. Even today. [41:58] Yeah. And even particularly. Onto their journey. To Canaan. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And. And. In spite of all of that. And the major thing. And it's a. [42:09] It's a reality. Of. Of showing us. The true. Nature. That we have. Inside of us. And all of that. They went through. And all that God. [42:19] Showed himself to be. And that's. Again. The reason for this. Being drug out. Not only did Pharaoh. Need to see who God was. Israel. Need to see who God was. And what he does. [42:30] Through the miracles. And the plagues. And all of those things. To the Egyptians. He shows that. And now. Time comes. When they finally. Get out of Egypt. They're on the way. [42:41] To the inheritance. Of Canaan. What do they do? Doesn't take long. Does it? And they think. God's abandoned them. [42:52] Because Moses. Is on Sinai. Getting the law of God. They think he's dead. Because he's been up there. A while. So they make a golden calf. To represent Jehovah. To follow it. [43:04] The reason for 40 years. Is because of their sin. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They just didn't. Still didn't learn the lesson. Amen. I've told you the story before. [43:15] Remember Yakov Smirnoff? Yeah. He told the story. About going to the grocery store. And he was amazed. He said. I see this box. [43:27] And it says. Instant potatoes. Read the box. And you just add milk to it. You've got mashed potatoes. And it goes on. [43:37] Through a scenario. That this box. Instant this or that. And that. He said. I went around the corner. To another aisle. And I look down there. And I see. Baby powder. [43:49] Oh. What a country. Yeah. Never forget that. Yeah. All right. Let's pray together. Father. Thank you again. [43:59] For your loving kindness. Tonight. And. For the time again. In your word. Father. We rejoice. In the fact. That. That. Everything. [44:11] That's transpired. In the world. And is continuing. To transpire. Has your hand. Upon it. And Father. We thank you. That you are. Doing things. [44:21] In accordance. To your divine. Supreme will. And design. And. We don't have to. Be concerned. About. The end result. We just need. To keep our eye. [44:31] Focused upon you. And continue. To fully trust you. In everything. So I ask. That by your spirit. Within us. You enable us. To do that. Day by day. Thank you. For these precious folks. [44:42] That come. And hear your word. And study together. Thank you. For their love. For you. And their love. For your word. And your church. We'll thank you. For what you do now. The rest of this week. And we'll thank you. [44:53] For it now. In Jesus name. Amen.
