Take your Bibles, would you, this morning, if you have a Bible with you?
And I know you know where we're going, at least you should. Luke chapter 22. Luke chapter 22, and our text for this morning will be verses 13 through 20.
Luke 22, and listen as I read, verses 13 through 20. So they went and found it, just as he had said to them, them being Peter and James.
And they prepared the Passover. When the hour had come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him. Then he said to them, with fervent desire, I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
For I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God. Then he took the cup, gave thanks, and said, take this and divide it among yourselves.
For I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes. And he took bread, and gave thanks, and broke it, gave it to them, saying, this is my body, which is given for you.
Do this in remembrance of me. Likewise, he also took the cup after supper, saying, this cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is shed for you.
Let me stop right there. I started to go on, but I'm not going any further than that this morning. It's now Thursday night.
We've kind of been tracking the week. This is Jesus' Passion Week, his final week. We're nearing the end of it. Actually, very near.
Within hours, actually. The end of it for Jesus, because on Friday, he will die. So it's Thursday. Thursday night.
On the Jewish calendar, that is the 14th of Nisan. For us, that would be sometime in March, most likely. And I give the date, according to the Jewish calendar, because that's significant.
It's the day of Passover. It's the day of the Feast of the Unleavened Bread. And again, in a matter of just a few hours, really, Jesus will die on the cross.
And significantly, in thinking about the Passover, this passage being about the Passover and the Lord's Supper, significantly, Jesus will die as God's Passover lamb.
Essentially, our Passover lamb. Now, before he dies, what's going to happen on this evening, this Thursday evening, is very significant. Very significant. And in fact, the Gospels give us a lot of things that Jesus said and did on this Thursday evening.
But it's going to be important, because before Jesus dies, Jesus is going to meet with his disciples and he's going to do two things, essentially.
Two things that he does here in the passage that we're looking at this morning. He's going to end something old.
Something very old, actually. And he's going to begin something brand new. So the end of something very old, the beginning of something brand new.
Because, you see, what Jesus does this night, on this Thursday night, what he does with the celebration, this very old celebration of the Passover, the Jewish Passover, what he does on this evening will mark, essentially mark the turning point in all of redemptive history.
He's going to do something monumental here. On this evening, on this Thursday evening, 14th of Nisan. On the day, the Jews have celebrated the Passover for now nearly 1,500 years.
That's a celebration that's gone on for a long time. Almost 1,500 years. And he's going to bring to an end the Old Covenant, or the Old Testament.
And Jesus will inaugurate the New Covenant, the New Testament, all of which will be accomplished, validated, within a few hours on the cross of Jesus Christ.
So this is an epic event. Jesus and his disciples are going to celebrate the Passover, essentially just like all of the other Jews are celebrating it at the same time on that Thursday evening, at least to a point.
Because at a point in the celebration, something is going to change. Dramatically change. And so they will celebrate the last legitimate Passover together, and Jesus will then transform it into the first Lord's table.
The first Lord's Supper. May I say that our scripture reading for this morning that I chose, and Marcia read for us this morning, out of Hebrews chapter 8, verses 6 through 13, fits very well with this.
This passage in Luke chapter 22, because that passage in Hebrews contains a quote from Jeremiah 31, one of two primary places in the prophets that speak of what's going to take place on this particular night, or does take place on this particular night, on this Thursday night, where Jeremiah the prophet spoke of a future new covenant.
A new covenant. God said through Jeremiah, behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant, a new covenant.
And Paul, the disputed author of Hebrews, best I can do for you, Tom, okay. Disputed among some, rather.
Well, he wrote in Hebrews 8, 13, again, read for us earlier in the service. He said, in that he, that is meaning God, says a new covenant, he has made the first, that's the old covenant, obsolete.
It's obsolete. Now, what is become obsolete and growing old, what about it? It's ready to vanish away. It's ready to disappear.
See, the book of Hebrews was written to a Jewish audience, hence the name Hebrews. And it was written some 70 years after, depending on who you think the author is, written some 70 years after the death of Jesus Christ.
And so it was written some 70 years after Jesus effectively ended the old covenant with the cross. And inaugurated the beginning of the new covenant.
Yet many of the Jews continued to observe the old covenant. And all of the trappings that went with all the system of the old covenant. And among those many things, the Jews continued to celebrate the Passover, which belonged to the old covenant.
Even though the cross of Jesus Christ had made it invalid. That's why this was really the very last valid Passover. The cross brought to a screeching halt the entire old covenant system.
It brought an end to the temple. God would use Titus, the Roman general, to effectively destroy the temple. So it brought an end to the temple. It brought an end then to everything inside the temple, the holy place.
It brought an end to the holy of holies. Separated from the holy place by the veil. But the veil was rent in two.
It was ripped in two when Jesus died upon the cross. And so the cross brought an end to the sacrificial system. It brought an end therefore to the priesthood. It brought an end to the Sabbath day observations.
And the cross brought an end to the celebration of the Passover. Because, you see, all of these things were merely shadows.
Just shadows of something real that would one day come and for us now has come. It has come. Jesus has come. And so, getting back to the passage in Hebrews 8, this is the point.
Stop celebrating the shadow. In fact, that's what Paul wrote earlier in that chapter in Hebrews 8, 5. He called the observance of the old covenant merely a service to the copy.
And the shadow of the heavenly things. That's why he wrote in verse 13, These things are obsolete and old, ready to vanish away.
They're ready to pass away. Why? Because these things belong to the old covenant. And Jesus brought an end to the old covenant, replacing it with the new covenant. And here in Luke 22, Jesus brought an end to the Passover, which belonged to the old covenant.
And he instituted the first Lord's table or Lord's supper, which belongs to the new covenant. And we can think of it in this way.
Every shadow has a substantive counterpart. I mean, you cannot have a shadow without something of substance. And Jesus is the substance of the shadow.
And every copy. Hebrews 8 mentions a copy. Every copy has an original counterpart. You cannot have a copy without an original. And Jesus is the original of the copy.
And so, this is what we have in Luke 22, verses 13 through 20. First, the shadow, then the substance. The Passover was a celebration of a shadow.
The shadow. The Lord's table, the Lord's supper, is a celebration of the substance. The substance. And so, since the substance has now come, then the shadow must pass away.
All right, so that's what we want to see in this passage this morning. Three things. The final celebration of the shadow. Really, just a brief mention of that here in the text.
Then the first celebration of the substance. And then third, the future celebration with the sovereign king of kings.
All that is in this passage. And so, first of all, then, the final celebration of the shadow. The Passover, of course, is the shadow. And the historical origin of the Passover celebration dates all the way back to 1446 B.C.
That's a long time ago. For us, thousands of years. For Jesus in his day, 14, almost 1500 years. So, in 1446 B.C., we have the exodus of Israel from the bondage of Egypt.
And so, the first Passover took place in Egypt where the children of Israel had been slaves for some 400 years. And God, remember, met with Moses at the burning bush.
And God commissioned Moses to be Israel's deliverer. And so, Moses goes into the presence of Pharaoh. And he says to Pharaoh, this is what the Lord, that is Yahweh God says.
Israel is my firstborn son. Let my son go so that he may worship me. And what did Pharaoh say? He said no.
He said no. He refused to let Israel go. We know the story. It's so familiar to us. And so, the Lord then judged Pharaoh and all of Egypt. And essentially, he did so by judging their impotent gods.
The impotent gods of the Egyptians. They worshipped the Nile gods. And so, what did God do? He turned the Nile into blood and made it undrinkable. And so, Moses then asks again, or demands again, Let my people go.
And Pharaoh said no. The Egyptians worshipped their frog god. And so, God flooded the land with thousands and thousands of frogs.
Everywhere. In their homes. In their clothing. In their food. Frogs everywhere. And Moses then said, let my people go. And Pharaoh said, no. And so, they worshipped the earth god.
And so, God sent a plague of lice that came from the dust of the earth. They worshipped the fly god. And so, God sent them flies. An infestation of flies.
They worshipped their cattle. And so, God destroyed their cattle with the pestilence. And God sent a plague of boils and hail and locusts. And Moses said, let my people go.
And the Pharaoh said, no. I will not let them go. They worshipped their beloved sun god and moon god. And so, God sent darkness. And Moses said, let my people go.
And Pharaoh said, no. So, nine plagues so far fell upon Egypt. And none of them fell upon Israel. All upon Egypt. The judgment was always limited to Egypt.
But you may not have noticed this or thought about this. But the tenth plague would potentially come upon all. Have you thought about that? No exemption.
No exemption. It would come upon Gentile and Jew. And what was it? Death of the firstborn. You say, well, I thought Israel was exempt from that.
Well, they were only because they followed God's only provision. It would have come upon all. Potentially all. The sentence of death would have passed upon all the firstborn of man and animals.
Gentile and Jew. Pharaoh and slave without exemption. But God announced the only way of deliverance from this plague. Every family was to take a firstborn yearling.
That is one year old, male, spotless, perfect lamb. And every family must kill that lamb at twilight.
And they must take the blood of that lamb. And with his soup, dip it in that blood and splash that blood, spread that blood on the door frames of their houses.
And then they are to roast and eat the lamb. Every single bit of it. Nothing left over. And they are to eat bitter herbs with the lamb.
And they are to eat unleavened bread. These were the instructions. So that when the Lord, the destroyer, some call it the death angel, though it's really not in the Bible anywhere.
The Lord passed through the land. The destroyer. And when he would pass through the land, he would strike the firstborn of house and stable.
But he said, when I see the blood, I will pass over you. And spare the firstborn. And so it was the tenth plague then that broke Pharaoh.
And he let Israel go. And through Moses, God commanded Israel in Deuteronomy chapter 12 verse 14. This is a day you are to commemorate.
For the generations to come you shall celebrate it as a festival to the Lord, a lasting ordinance. And so when Jesus came into the world for almost 1500 years, Israel had been celebrating this festival.
The Passover. Not realizing. Not realizing. That it was just a shadow. A shadow of something to come.
And so, looking then at Luke 22. We have Jesus and his disciples observing this shadow.
To begin with. The old covenant. The Passover. What belonged to the old covenant. And verses 13 through 17 contain the only description. Any specific information about the Passover meal.
That's all we're going to get from Luke. And it's such scant information. It makes you kind of think that maybe Luke didn't care anything about it. And in a sense it didn't. The focus is not the Passover here.
The focus is going to be what will replace it. The focus is not the shadow. It's going to be the substance. And so Luke says in verse 13.
They, that is Peter and John. I said James a while ago. It was John. Prepared the Passover. Remember? Which means probably, of course, that they prepared that upper room.
So that Jesus and his disciples could have the Passover. The table would have been prepared. The couches or lounges or cushions or whatever they may have been.
Would have been put in order. So that Jesus and his disciples could recline around that table for that Passover meal. They would have been responsible for preparing the meal.
The lamb. All the trimmings. You know. Roast lamb and potatoes. Now, I don't know if they had potatoes or not. They should have. Because potatoes really goes well with that.
And so they're preparing all of this. And they also prepare the wine and the unleavened bread. And everything that is needed for the Passover celebration. Peter and John prepared.
That's what verse 13 is all about. And then Luke records in verse 14. When the hour had come. That he, that's Jesus, sat down.
And the twelve apostles with him. So we can just kind of read between the lines. Talked a little bit about this last week. Jesus had led. Not mentioned.
But he evidently led the remaining ten apostles to the house. Where they would observe the Passover together. Peter and John already there.
Because they were sent early to prepare everything. And the other ten. Especially Judas. Did not know the location of the house. There was a reason for that. In fact, no one knew the location of the house.
Except Jesus. Now, Peter and John didn't know it until they got there. After they followed the rather strange and mysterious type of instructions. And of course, as I mentioned last week.
This was a safeguard against Jesus being arrested prematurely. Because Jesus is calling all the shots here. And he's not going to be arrested before the appointed time.
And he's going to be arrested at the appointed place. And so he's orchestrating this whole thing. And so Luke then records when the hour had come. Now, what hour would that be?
Well, the hour when the Passover was to be officially eaten. At sunset. According to the instructions. That were given by Moses.
Fifteen hundred years before. And so at sunset. Jesus sat down. That's how it's translated here. In the New King James. And the twelve apostles with him.
But literally. The word means to lie back. And lie. Or lie down. To recline at the table. And it all points to the fact. That this is going to be a rather long meal.
Probably lasted several hours. And the Passover would last. Several hours. A number of elements to this meal. And a lot of conversation in between things. And so forth.
So this is a long period of time. So they're kind of relaxing. Kind of reclining. At the table. Then Luke records some opening remarks of Jesus. We'll get to those a little bit later.
And after these opening remarks. Then Luke records in verse 17. Then he took the cup. Gave thanks. And said. Take this and divide it among yourselves.
Right now. That's really all that Luke gives us. Specifically. About the Passover. The Passover celebration. Of Jesus and his disciples.
In the first place. Luke leaves a lot of it out. It's not that they didn't observe. The other elements of the Passover. It's just that Luke doesn't mention them. Here. But also we should understand.
That Jesus does not strictly observe. The Passover. Through to its conclusion. According to the traditional elements. At some point. He changed it.
Transformed it. See by this time. The time of Jesus. The Passover meal. Had evolved into a rather. Lengthy.
And very. Elaborate. Kind of celebration. It. It had many different elements to it. And. The best that we can determine.
From various historical accounts. Is the following order of events. It would begin with a. Prayer of Thanksgiving. Everything. Thanking God. For his protection.
His provision. His deliverance. And so forth. So we begin with a prayer. Prayer of Thanksgiving. And then. Following that. Would be. The first.
Of four cups. Of wine. And. This particular cup. Would be the cup of blessing. Goes along with the prayer of Thanksgiving. And it would be. Speaking blessings to God.
Thanksgivings to God. After that. There would be a ceremonial. Washing of hands. Then. The eating of bitter herbs. Where. They would.
Take bread. Unleavened bread. Because no. Leaven would be allowed. Even in the house. Anywhere. That had to be cleared out of the house. That would be something. That Peter and John. Would have done as well. They would take the unleavened bread.
And dip it into a. Kind of a. Pasty. Kind of. Substance. Made out of bitter herbs. And it was to remind them. Of the bitterness.
That their forefathers. Experienced. In bondage. Bondage of Egypt. And then they would sing. They would sing. The first. Part. Of.
A two-part. Kind of thing. Called the. Hallel. Hallel. That's the first part. Of the word. Hallelujah. Hallel. Means praise. Hallel.
And. It would have been. Psalm. 113. To. 119. And they would sing. The first part of that. Sing. Some of the psalms. Here. The hallel.
It would be part of the celebration. And then. Would come. The second cup. Of wine. And then. After that. A. A kind of. Sermon. So to speak.
Or. Teaching. Kind of an explanation. Of the meaning. Of the Passover. Because there would be. Young children. And they would need. To be reminded. And everyone. Wanted to be reminded. The meaning. Of the Passover.
To keep. That focus. You see. And this would usually. Be done by. The patriarch. Of the house. The father. And then. After that. Would be the eating.
Of the lamb. The roasted lamb. And the unleavened bread. This would be. The main meal. And after that. A third cup. Of wine. And then.
Singing again. Singing the latter part. Of the. Hallel. What remained in that. And then finally. The fourth. Cup of wine. The fourth cup of wine.
And then it was over. That was it. That was the. Celebration. That was the Passover. And it would take a long time. Several hours. There would be a lot of conversation. In between some of these elements.
And. Some of the. These things would take. A lot longer. And they would just relax. And eat. And fellowship. And celebrate. All of the. Various elements. Of the Passover meal.
Now the question is. How much of this. Does Luke tell us about. In his account. Well very little. Very little. Scant. Information. Details. He says in verse 17.
Then. Jesus took the cup. Gave thanks. And said. Take this. And divide it among yourselves. And so this marks. The beginning of the. Passover festival. He references the.
Thanksgiving prayer. And the cup of blessing. And. These things. These two things. The prayer. And the cup of blessing. The first of four cups. Were. These were elements.
Of the. Old. Passover. Meal. And. Very shortly. After this. Jesus.
Is going to change. The whole thing. He's going to. Transform it. From the Passover. To. The Lord's Supper. So we really don't have very much.
About the Passover. But they are observing. And many of the details. That I just mentioned. A while ago. That were. Perhaps. Part of the. Various. Stages. Or elements. Of the Passover meal.
The disciples. And Jesus. Did observe. Luke just doesn't mention. All he mentions. Is. The Thanksgiving prayer. And the. Cup of blessing. So we have then.
The final celebration. Of the shadow. Number two. The first. Celebration. Of. The substance. And this is really.
What Luke wants to get to. Very quickly. The first celebration. Of the. Substance. The substance. To. The shadow. And so. Verse 19. Says.
And he took bread. Gave thanks. And broke it. And gave it. To them. Now. This still. Be part of the.
Passover. I mean. This. This. Kind of. But. But. Jesus is going to change this. Dramatically. The word. Thanks. By the way. Gave thanks.
For the bread. There in verse 17. Is from the word. Eucharisteo. Which is why. Catholics. Many others. Call this meal. The. Eucharist.
Thanks. Thanks. And so. He. Gave thanks. For the bread. Now. Again. When would this have been. In the order of things. Well.
At this point. The lamb. Would have already been brought out. Well. Luke doesn't mention it. But it. It was. The roast lamb. Would have been brought out. Along with the unleavened bread. And.
And so. This is the bread. That Jesus is. Breaking. And giving thanks for. And. Passing out to. To. To. To them. This. Unleavened bread.
And according to Deuteronomy 16. In verse 3. The bread. Would have been the masa. The bread of affliction. The bread of affliction.
Which would have. In the Passover meal. Would have been. Something to commemorate. Israel's affliction. In Egypt. The bread of affliction. But.
Jesus is about to change that. Dramatically. And so. Here. Here's. What we could imagine. While they are. They are eating. The Passover lamb.
That roasted lamb. While they are. Eating. And that's what Matthew tells us. Matthew 26. 26. Says. As they were. Eating. What? What happened? Well.
Verse 19. He took bread. The unleavened bread. Gave thanks. And broke it. And gave it to them. Saying what? This. Is. My.
Body. By the way. Not. This is actually. My body. Okay. Catholics. Catholics are wrong about that. Bread doesn't turn in.
To the actual body of Jesus. Alright. I mean. Jesus wasn't saying that. Because he's right there alive. He didn't cut off a little bit of his flesh. And say this is. Bread.
No. He was holding up. A symbol. Of his body. This is a symbol. Of my body. So. In no sense. Is. Is. Is. To be understood as the physical body. Of Jesus.
Or. Even in some sense. A spiritual. Body of Jesus. Like the. Basically the Lutherans. Believe. It's symbolic. This.
Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. My. My. Body. My. Body. And so. He says. This.
Is. My. Body. Which. Is. Given. For. You. Do. This. In. Remembrance. Of. Me. So. What. Is. He's. Saying. He's. Saying. No. Longer. Is. This. To.
Remind. You. Of. Israel's. Affliction. In. Egypt. From. Now. On. The. Bread. Is. To. Remind. You. To. Be. The. Memorial. Of. My. Affliction.
For. You. For. You. This. Is. My. Body. Which. Is. Given. For. You. As.
I've. Said. So. Many. Times. When. We. Come. To. Passages. Like. This. Don't. Pass. Over. This. Little. Word. For. For. Very. Quick. Because. See.
The. Thousands. And. Thousands. Of. Lambs. That. Were. Slain. In. Egypt. Some. Fifteen. Hundred. Years. Before. Christ. They. Were. Slain. For. Israel.
Specifically. In. That. Case. For. The. First. Born. Of. Every. Household. That. Is. The. Lamb. Became. A. Substitute. For. The. Death. Of.
The. First. Born. That. That. That. The. Meaning. And. Remember. All. Of. The. Plagues. In. Egypt. Were. Acts. Of. God's. Judgment. Including. The. Tenth. Plague.
And. The. Tenth. Plague. Essentially. Came. Upon. All. The. This.
Judgment. Would. Be. Through. What? And. The. Death. Of. An. In. In. In. This. Case. A. Lamb. The.
Blood. Of. A. Substitute. And. So. It. Was. A. Shadow. Of. The. One. Who. Would. One. Day. Come. As. The. Eternal. Substitute. To.
Die. In. Our. Place. To. Shed. His. Blood. For. Us. So. That. The. Destroyer. Would. Pass. Over. Us. That's.
What. It's. All. About. That's. The. Picture. That's. The. Shadow. Of. Something. Very. Substantive. And. So. He. Said. Verse. 20. Likewise. He. Also. Took. The. Cup. So. The.
Cup. Is. Added. To. All. Right. Likewise. In. The. Sense. That. Gave. Thanks. For. It. As. Well. The. Cup. And. And. This. Would. Be. The. The. The. Third. Cup. In. The. Passover. Ritual.
After. The. Meal. But. Again. Jesus. Changed. It. This. Cup. He. Said. Is. The. New. Covenant. In. My. Blood. Which. Is. Shed. And. Here's. This. Word. Again. For.
Shed. For. You. He. Died. In. Your. Place. His. Blood. Was. Shed. For. Us. He. Took. Our.
Judgment. The. Destroyer. Passed. Over. Us. Because. He. Didn't. Pass. Over. Jesus. His. Destruction. Fell.
Upon. Jesus. Isaiah. 53. In. Verse. 5. He. Was. Wounded. For. Whose. Transgressions. Ours. Took. Our. Place.
Took. Our. Wounds. He. Was. Bruised. For. Our. Iniquities. The. Chastisement. For. Our. Peace. Was. Not. Laid. Upon. Us. It. Was. Laid. Upon.
Him. Was. Upon. Him. And. By. His. Stripes. We. Are. He. You. Lamentations. Chapter 1. Verse. 12. Messianic.
It is. Is it nothing to you? The prophecy asks. All. Who. Pass. By. Behold. And. See. If. There is. Any sorrow. Like. My sorrow.
Which. Has. Been. Brought. On. Me. This. Is. As if. Jesus. Were. Speaking. From. The cross. Is. There. Any sorrow. Like. My sorrow. Which. Has. Been. Brought.
Upon. Me. Which. The Lord. That's. God. Has. Inflicted. In. The day. Of. His. Fierce. Anger. His. Affliction. Affliction. Of. His. Anger.
Was. Placed. Upon. Jesus. God. Treated. Jesus. On. The cross. As if. He. Had. Lived. Your. Life.
So. That. God. Could. Treat. You. As if. You. Were. Living. Jesus. Complete. Substitution. Jesus.
Is. Our. Passover. Land. All right. So. First of all. The final. Celebration. Of. The shadow. Second. The first. Celebration. Of. The substance.
And. Then. One. Last. Thing. The future. Celebration. With. The sovereign. King. Of. Kings. That's. In. Here.
As well. I've. Left. For. Last. Some. Specific. Things. Jesus. Said. To. His. Disciples. In. Verses. 15. And. 16. And. And. Then. Also. In. 18. Let me. Read. Them. Again. Verse.
15. With. Fervent. Desire. I. Have. Desired. It's. Almost. Redundant. His.
Deep. Desire. To do what? To eat. This. Passover. With. You. This. Last. Passover. With. You. Before. I. Suffer. Suffer.
And. Die. Now. I. Don't know. That the disciples. Understood. Any. Of. This. At. This. Point. Would. Become. Clear. Later. So. With. Desire. I. Have. Desired. A. Deep. Desire. I. Desired. To.
Have. This. Passover. With. You. Eat. Of. It. Until.
It. Is. Fulfilled. In. The. Kingdom. Of. God. Verse. 18. For. I. Say. To. You. I. Will. Not. Drink. Of. The. Fruit. Of. The. Vine. Until. The.
Kingdom. Of. God. Comes. See. This. Is. It's. All. Future. Is. And. By. The. Way. The.
Force. Of. What. Jesus. Says. Here. Is. Really. Lost. In. The. English. Language. When. Jesus. Said. I. Will. Not. Drink. He. Used. The. Very. The. The. Strongest. Negative.
In. The. Greek. Language. Who. May. That's. Just. Two. Small. Little. Words. In. The. Greek. That's. A. Powerful. Negative. Means. We. Would.
Say. It. Absolutely. Not. Certainly. Not. Not. Ever. Never. Never. Will. I. Eat. Of. This.
Until. You see. It's. The. Final. Passover. And. This. Is. The. First. Lord's. Supper. The. Lord's. Table. And. By. The. Way. This.
Will. Be. The. Last. Lord's. Table. Jesus. Will. Participate. In. With. His. Beloved. Disciples. The. Last. One. Until.
And. Here's. The. Point. This. Is. The. Point. It. Until. Until. What? A time. That's. Future. Still. Future. For. Us. Verse.
16. Until. It. Is. Fulfilled. That. Is. Consummated. In. The. Kingdom. Of. God. Until. The. Full. Meaning. Of.
What. This. Supper. Is. All. About. Is. Absolutely. Finally. Consummated. Fulfilled. At. A. Future. Time.
With. The. Coming. Of. My. Kingdom. Verse. 18. He. Says. Until. The. Kingdom. Of. God. Comes. And. For. The. Kingdom.
Of. God. To. Come. The. King. Must. Come. This. Future. A. Future. Lord's. Table. You know. Wouldn't. You. Have. Loved.
To. Have. Been. There. In. That. Upper. Room. On. That. Thursday. Night. With. Jesus. Disciples. Eating. A meal.
Together. With. Jesus. Especially. To. Be. Like. John. Beloved. Apostle. Sitting. Right. There. Next. To. Jesus. Even. Leaning. Against.
Jesus. Just. Touching. Him. And. Being. There. In. His. In. His. Arms. In. His. Brace. As. Jesus. Serves. The. Meal. Would. You.
Have. Loved. To. Have. Been. There. Would. There. Be. Something. I mean. As. I read. Through. The. Gospels. I'm. Often. Thinking. Of. That. You know. Certain. Things. That. Happened. Events. And. Things. That. Jesus.
Said. And. So. Forth. And. I. Just. Find. Myself. Wanting. To. Be. There. I. Just. Love. To. Be. There. To. See. Him. And. To. You.
And. With. You. And. To. Actually. Have. A. Meal. With. The. Lord. Jesus. Christ. When. You. Love. That. Well. You. Know. Where.
I'm. Going. Don't you. One. Day. We. Shall. We. Shall. That. Is. Those. Who. Are. His. Redeemed. Those.
Who. Are. His. Bride. And. When. Will. That. Be. Well. I. Can't. Give. A. Specific. Date. I. Don't. Know. It.
Will. Be. At. The. End. Of. History. When. Jesus. Comes. Again. And. When. His. Kingdom. Is.
